January/ February 2017
Firstly we would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year, we hope you all had a lovely Christmas break. We have enjoyed hearing from all the children of how much fun they have had and what lovely presents they have all received. We would like to welcome all our new children and parents to Little Bears, this is a newsletter we send out to keep you up to date with any information about the nursery and up and coming events
We would like to wish Chrissi all the best as she prepares to start her maternity leave. We will all miss Chrissi , but can not wait to have baby cuddles!
Victoria will be covering Chrissi’s maternity leave as Panda bear room leader.
We would like to invite all parents to a parents evening on Monday 27th February 2017 this will give you an opportunity to have a look around the nursery at your child’s work and have a chat with your child’s key worker about your child’s progress and development at Little Bears Day nursery. We will send out more details nearer the date and we look forward to seeing you all.
Star of the week
We have introduced ‘Star of the week’ at the nursery. Your child’s key worker will let you know when it is your child’s turn and will give you a short spider gram to fill in with your child’s interests at home or areas you would like us to cover at nursery. Your child’s key worker will keep you posted on the week and fill in a progress check for your child for you to have a look at, your comments are greatly appreciated to assist in your child’s learning. Your child will also receive a star of the week certificate to celebrate their fantastic achievements at nursery.
Our Nursery pets
Gilbert had a fantastic Christmas break with Hannah and her family. He enjoyed lots of Christmas treats! He is happy to be back at nursery to see all his friends and is enjoying spending some time in the Panda bear room. Shelly and Turbo our giant African snails, have been hibernating all over the festive period! We think Shelly has just woken up, so she will now enjoy lots of treats!
Please could all parents ensure that their children have at least one spare set of clothes at nursery. We do have a limited supply of spare clothes at nursery and the children do sometimes need changing. Please can you provide your child with warm clothing, waterproofs and wellies. The weather can be unpredictable, but we still love to adventure down the lane splashing in puddles and running around the garden, so a spare set of clothes is essential!! Please make sure that your children are not wearing their best clothes at nursery, we love top do lots of messy activities and although we do have plenty of aprons we still manage to get messy! We would hate to damage any lovely clothes!
Medicine and illness in the nursery
Please can I just remind all parents that if your child is prescribed any antibiotics by the Doctor that we ask that they stay at home for the first 24 hours as our policy states. After this period we are more than happy to administer any prescribed medicines once a medicine form has been filled in and signed by a parent/guardian. Please will you refrain from leaving medicines in your child’s bag, for obvious safety reasons all medicines on site must be accounted for.
May I also remind parents that when a child has been sick or had diarrhoea we would ask that they do not attend nursery for 48 hours. Many thanks on this matter we are simply trying to protect all the children and staff at our setting.
We are just wondering whether any parent has access to any cable drums? We are looking for some to add to our outside area at Little Bears to use for tables and other activities. We would also really appreciate any donations of old pans or cutlery for our mud kitchen, the children love cooking up some amazing treats in the outside kitchen!!!!
Many thanks Hannah, Meagan & the Little Bears Team
